The Religious Boycott of Illegal Settlements Continues in Canada
At the beginning of July Canada’s Anglican Church passed a resultion to educate themselves “more deeply” about Israel’s illegal settlements.
The resolution passed with the support of 73% of the Church’s General Synod nearly 300 members. Canadian Anglicans are asked to take new steps, including educating themselves “more deeply” on a variety of issues, including “the impact of illegal settlements on the lives of both Palestinians and Israelis; about imported products identified as produced in or related to the illegal settlements and misleadingly labelled as produced in Israel.”
The resolution also included a pledge to “explore and challenge theologies and beliefs, such as Christian Zionism, that support of the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories.”
