Say No to SodaStream and Say Yes! To Human Rights: The Year in Review
All in all I would say this campaign had a productive year, ending with a letter of support from Ms. Elizabeth May, President of the Green Party of Canada. For us Ms. May’s response is key as she is the only federal politician to respond to our package in a proactive, positive way. Ms. May’s response has us confident that the issue of labelling illegal, West Bank settlement goods will eventually come to the forefront in the House of Commons!
Please make your own concerns known to Ms. May at Elizabeth.May@parl.gc.ca so she knows there are many people behind this issue! You can also write to her at: Ms. Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada, Room 518, Confederation Building, Ottawa, ONT. KIA 0A6
The year also ended with a letter from Staples Canada President Steve Matyas, acknowledging Staples’ concern with ethical sourcing. We are in the process of writing back to him.
On SodaStream’s Health Myths….many of you may have already been to our new blog SodaStream Health Myths. While still in its infancy, our goal is to provide information on all the ingredients in SodaStream syrups so consumers can make an informed choice about what they consume. We also plan to continue discussing SodaStream’s green washing.
Continue to watch both our blogs for updates, particularly on the issue of labelling legislation for illegal settlement goods in Canada!
Happy 2014 everyone
