Say No to SodaStream and Say Yes! To Human Rights Receives A Holiday Gift From the Green Party of Canada!
I just received correspondence back from Ms. Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada. We had written to her last November (2012) and sent her the same package that we had mailed to all other politicians. We had not received any response until now.
Below are a couple passages from May’s letter, which indicate her willingness to support Say No to SodaStream and Say Yes! To Human Rights:
“As you have stated, the issue of illegal West Bank settlement goods is a problem that should concern all Canadians who care about social justice. Rest assured that I support your movement. This is why I have demanded for the immediately enactment of legislation that guarantees Canadians’ Right to Know, ensuring that all Canadians are able to make well informed decisions for their personal health and safety, about their workplaces and the products they consume, with Mandatory Labelling based on complete, accountable and transparent disclosure of all substances in household and workplace-related goods and products. This transparent disclosure in Mandatory Labelling should certainly include where the product, or its parts, were manufactured.
It is my sincere hope that your petition gathers a substantial number of signatures. We are working hard at the Green Party of Canada to develop a “create a petition page on our website. This new feature will allow Canadians to easily develop petitions and gather signatures that re important to them. It would be my honour to stand in the House of Commons to support your campaign.”
May’s response is thrilling to us as we now finally have the recognition from a national political party that the issue of illegal West Bank settlement goods deserves attention. Someone like Elizabeth May is just the person to address this issue in the House of Commons.
Now is the time to take action and if you haven’t done so already, please sign our petition at www.gopetition.com under Say No to SodaStream and Say Yes! To Human Rights. The link to the petition is on this blog.
Thank you again for your support! By creating awareness about illegal West Bank settlement goods we can make a difference and begin to remove these goods from retailers in our community.
