How SodaStream Contributes to the Occupation of Palestine
SodaStream’s operations in Mishor Adumin Industrial Park in the Occupied West Bank also directly contribute to the ongoing Occupation of Palestine. Here’s how:
As you are no doubt aware, after the recent military conflict in Gaza, on November 30, 2012 the UN announced to the world that the General Assembly voted overwhelmingly to recognize Palestine as a non-member observer state. Palestinians were euphoric. They have been waiting 64 years.
Unfortunately Canada and the United States voted against this recognition of Palestine. Soon after the UN announcement Israel announced they were going to accelerate illegal settlement expansion in Mishor Adumin Industrial Park where SodaStream’s manufacturing is strategically located. With such settlement expansion allowed to continue, there may be no land left for the Palestinians to form a state at all and SodaStream’s plant in Mishor Adumin directly contributes to this. Therefore, when consumers purchase a SodaStream unit, they are unknowingly becoming complicit in the Occupation of Palestine
